Deborah.

I'm including revised minutes with a paragraph on you and Paul's services
included. Also-I have asked Kim McEachirn to forward me a copy of his
recording of Paul's services, which I will send you ASAP as he is unfamiliar
with Dropbox. I hope to see you sometime in June.

Very Best Regards,

Chris

National Federation of the Blind of Ohio, Cincinnati Chapter

Meeting Minutes for April 2019

1.	The April 2019 meeting of the National Federation of the Blind of
Ohio, Cincinnati Chapter was convened by President Sheri Albers at
approximately 1:55 P.M. on Saturday April 27 2019 in Room 3A of the
Cincinnati / Hamilton County Public Library Main Branch at 800 Vine Street
in Downtown Cincinnati. In attendance were: President Sheri Albers,
Christopher Sabine, Gloria Robinson, Tammy McRae, Chris Windham, Lisa Hall,
Joy Thomas, Diane Carmony, Deanna Lewis, Candice Armstrong, Diana Gudaitis
and Ahkeela Cade. Nyla Cade attended today's meeting as a guest of the
Chapter. Deborah Kendrick, Immediate Past President of the Cincinnati
Chapter, also attended today's meeting by telephone. President Sheri Albers
played the Presidential Release prior to convening today's meeting and began
the meeting with a moment of silence in honor of Paul Dressell, who passed
away on April 22 2019. Candice Armstrong and Diana Gudaitis paid her annual
dues at today's meeting and is now a member of the National Federation of
the Blind.

2.	Gloria Robinson moved that the March 2019 Chapter minutes be
approved. Deanna Lewis seconded. The motion passed.

3.	There was no Treasurer's Report for April as Emily Pennington was
absent from today's meeting.

4.	Christopher Sabine gave a report from the Membership Committee,
which met by telephone conference at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday April 14 2019. Dale
Barta, Tammy Smith and Christopher Sabine attended. The Committee agreed to
distribute copies of the Chapter flier. Tammy Smith and Dale Barta agreed to
do so, and Christopher expressed that he visited Dale at the Bell Home to
help distribute copies subsequent to the meeting. Christopher also reported
that the flier on inclusion of Blind parishioners in the Archdiocese in Mass
and other church activities has been posted to the web site of the
Archdiocese's Respect for Life Ministry, and there are plans for an
interview for a podcast published by the ministry which could take place as
soon as June 2019. Summaries of the development of the new membership flier
and inclusion initiative with the Archdiocese of Cincinnati for the benefit
of Deborah Kendrick. Christopher expressed ongoing concerns with
participation in Committee meetings. It was agreed to plan for a blindness
expo similar to the Envision Fair organized in 2017 by the Butler County
Chapter. This event would consist of information booths with literature,
technology vendors and related activities. President Sheri Albers suggested
that working on this task might increase participation in Committee
meetings. Christopher agreed to pursue planning this event.

5.	Gloria Robinson gave a report from the Fund Raising Committee. She
reported that she is extending the Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser until the
May Chapter meeting and expressed that she believes the Chapter will make
about $1,000 from proceeds. Deanna Lewis agreed to email a text copy of the
print brochure distributed to Chapter members. It was agreed that members
will present all sales to Gloria at the May Chapter meeting, and Gloria will
ensure that the orders are fulfilled. Gloria also indicated that she has
asked Deanna Lewis to see if the Clovernook Procter Center could be secured
for the Italian Dinner Fundraiser tentatively scheduled for the weekend of
June 15-16. Plans for a Fall Fundraiser at Traders World and a "meet the
Blind Month" event are still currently in the works. Sheri Albers indicated
that she will reach out to Kim McEachirn to see how many Braille puzzle
books are available for sale at the Ohio Table at National Convention at $5
apiece. Sheri also expressed that the Ohio Affiliate has received 40 tickets
for the Ken Jernigan Raffle which are available for sale at $10 apiece.
Sheri asked all Chapter members interested in purchasing a ticket to bring
$10 to next month's Chapter meeting, and Sheri will present the orders to
the Ohio Affiliate. The person holding the winning ticket for this year's
raffle will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2020 National
Federation of the Blind Annual Convention and $1,000 spending money.
Finally, Sheri reminded Chapter members that tickets to the Piggest Raffle
Ever will be available for purchase online until Friday May 2 2019.

6. Sheri Albers reported that the BLT Station at the Flying Pig Half
Marathon has been cancelled due to lack of participation from members of the
Ohio Affiliate.

7.	Sheri Albers gave an update concerning legislative activities
following the Ohio Affiliate's Columbus Seminar which took place from April
7-9 2019. Ohio's Parental Rights and Accessible Prescription Reader bills
have been introduced in the House and assigned the numbers H.R. 188 and H.r.
214, respectively. The Parental Rights Bill has already been referred to the
Health Committee of the Ohio House but has not yet been scheduled for a
hearing in that committee. The Prescription Reader legislation has not yet
been assigned to committee as of today's meeting. Concerns regarding the
service animal bill are being addressed, and Rep. Brigid Kelly
(D-Cincinnati), who originally introduced the bill, is seeking feedback from
other interested organizations before reintroducing it to the House,
according to Deanna Lewis. Sheri encouraged all Chapter members to have
written and or oral testimony prepared prior to scheduled committee hearings
concerning these bills. Those interested in giving written or oral testimony
must submit it in writing online to the Ohio House of Representatives at
least 24 hours prior to a scheduled committee hearing. Notice of committee
hearings are posted to the Ohio House of Representatives' web site at the
end of the day on the Friday prior to the hearing-so having prepared
testimony is essential. Regular legislative updates-including notices of
scheduled hearings-will be posted to the Ohio-Talk listserv.

8.	Christopher Sabine gave a summary of articles from the April edition
of The Braille Monitor.

9.	Deborah Kendrick gave a summary of her health status at the request
of Sheri Albers, expressing regrets for her inability to attend today's
meeting in person. Sheri gave a summary of the services for Paul Dressell,
which took place on April 26 2019. Sheri expressed that Tim McEachirn has a
recording of the service, and it was agreed that the Chapter would forward
this to Deborah. Chris Windham encouraged Chapter members to make regular
contact with Bernie Dressell to offer their support at this time. Gloria
Robinson also recommended that the Chapter facilitate a meeting between
Bernie and Marion King, who is also dealing with the news of Paul's passing.

10.	The meeting concluded with a guest presentation on the One Touch
Self-defense course by Chuck Geiger, who is offering the course for Blind
individuals in the Greater Cincinnati area.

11.	The May 2019 meeting of the National Federation of the Blind of
Ohio, Cincinnati Chapter, was scheduled for Saturday May 18 2019 from 1:30
to 3:30 P.M. in Room 3A of the Cincinnati / Hamilton County Public Library
Main Branch in Downtown Cincinnati.

12.	The April 2019 meeting of the National Federation of the Blind of
Ohio, Cincinnati Chapter was adjourned at approximately 3:42 P.M. on
Saturday April 27 2019.

Respectfully Submitted.

Chris,

There is no reference here to Sheri's asking me for an update on my medical
status, etc., or of my request that someone who attended Paul's service give
us a report on that service, which Sheri subsequently did.

Wondering why these were omitted .

Best,

Deborah
