President Gloria Robinson reviewed how members can pay their dues, which are currently $5 annually, reminding all members that they must submit dues to vote in local, state, and national elections.

>> President Gloria Robinson gave a report from the Community Outreach Committee, which consists of President Gloria Robinson, Chris Windham, and Tammy Smith and is chaired by Chris Windham. Akeelah Cade and KY Pennimon agreed to join this committee at today’s meeting. The Committee’s current project is to visit local stores and restaurants to assess and evaluate their service and accessibility to members of the Blind community.

Gary Warren indicated that the Cincinnati Chapter Spring Ball, originally scheduled for May 4 at the West Price Hill Knights of Columbus Hall, was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, and will be scheduled at a later date. He expressed that he has met with Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval and will be organizing an event to highlight the Federation and members of Greater Cincinnati’s Blind Community to be scheduled for a later date.
>> President Gloria Robinson reminded members of this year’s annual convention of the National Federation of the Blind, which will take place at the Rosen Center Hotel in Orlando, Florida from July 3-8. All members seeking convention assistance should have submitted applications to Ohio Affiliate President Richard Payne by April 15. Room rates are $129 per night with a $146 deposit, and the Ohio Affiliate needs to know who from the Cincinnati Chapter plans to attend the convention. President Gloria Robinson and Lisa Hall have expressed that they will be attending National Convention this year, and Ky Pennimon has expressed interest. The Ohio Affiliate Convention is set for November 14-17 at the Hilton Doubletree Hotel, 1100 Crocker Road, Westlake, Ohio. Room rates are $105 per night. Anyone interested in selling items at the Ohio Affiliate Convention should contact Gary Warren or Dave Perry from the Fundraising Committee. Those interested in contributing door prizes should reach out to President Gloria Robinson.

The Expo is scheduled from 9:00 to 5:00 P.M., and the Affiliate is seeking members to participate. Chris Windham, Paula Collins, and President Gloria Robinson have expressed that they will attend this event, and Tammy Smith and Ky Pennimon indicated that they were interested.

Christopher indicated that Metro Now, the new on-demand service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, is expanding to other neighborhoods and is now serving the Clovernook Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired and other locations in North College Hill and Sharonville. Chris Windham, who later joined the meeting virtually, added that ACCESS, Cincinnati’s Paratransit service, is using new vans. President Gloria Robinson reported that anyone facing hazards in a store, such as a grocery cart, etc., should reach out to store management in writing. She also asked anyone with safety or communication concerns involving ACCESS, to call the ACCESS customer service line at (513) 531-8888 to express their concerns. President Robinson reported that Metro bus operators are still failing to announce their route or bus stop locations, and Christopher Sabine agreed to invite Khaled Shammout from the Customer Innovation Team at the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority to invite him to the next Chapter meeting to discuss the matter.
