> Emily Pennington gave this month’s Treasurer’s report. Christopher Sabine moved to accept this month’s Treasurer’s report as presented. Frank Bragassa seconded. The motion passed. Gloria Robinson expressed that she plans to utilize some Chapter funds for the Summer Slam Fundraiser set for August 31 at the West Price Hill Knights of Columbus Hall, asking all members to bring an extra person to ensure the success of this event. Anyone requesting a flier can contact a member of the Chapter Board of Directors. Discussion of Fundraising commenced.

> Gary Warren gave this month’s report from the Fundraising Committee Gary Warren began with an advertisement for the Summer Slam Fundraiser. President Gloria Robinson expressed that volunteers are needed to assist with cleanup afterward. Anna Burrage will serve as a guest speaker, and President Robinson has reached out to the Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) for volunteers. Gary Warren expressed that there will also be door prizes and a drawing. Dave Parry expressed that the purpose of this event is to raise funds to enable members to attend this year’s State Convention, which is set for November 14-17 at the Hilton Doubletree Hotel in Westlake Ohio, outside Cleveland. He continued that Gary Warren and Gloria Robinson put significant effort into this event’s success, and any assistance that members can offer is greatly appreciated. President Robinson expressed that the Chapter needs more members to participate in activities of the Chapter, particularly those who ask for assistance to attend State Convention.

> President Gloria Robinson announced to the Chapter that the Ohio Affiliate Board meeting will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) main office, located at 2045 Gilbert Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. President Robinson reported that she will be managing lunch for the Board during the meeting. All members participating in activities the night prior can meet at the Delta Marriott Hotel Sharonville at 11400 Chester Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45246.

> President Gloria Robinson reminded Chapter members that the State Convention will take place from Thursday November 14 to Sunday November 17 at the Hilton Doubletree Hotel, 1100 Crocker Road, Westlake, Ohio. Registration is available for $25 through the Ohio Affiliate’s web site, https://www.nfbohio.org/convention/. Rooms at the Doubletree are $105 per night. Transportation for Chapter members will be provided to the hotel Friday morning, but details are not yet been finalized. A table will be available in the exhibit hall.

> President Gloria Robinson expressed that she would like to see as many members as possible participate in Meet the Blind Month (Blind Equality Achievement Month) activities. There are plans for an Italian Dinner at the West Price Hill Knights of Columbus Hall as well as other activities, but specific details have not been announced as of today’s meeting.

> Chris Windham announced that the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA), is rolling out new buses and changing and adding some new routes to accommodate students returning to school. In 2027, SORTA plans to introduce several new transit hubs in outer areas of Hamilton County. Christopher Sabine agreed to reach out to Khaled Shammout, SORTA’s director of strategic planning and innovation, inviting him to the October Chapter meeting to discuss developments at SORTA.
