<P class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">It is with a heavy heart that I
need to tell you all that Diane had to make a very difficult decision today
regarding Abbie. She asked me to reach out to her friends to let you know
that she found out that the cyst she thought Abbie had, was actually a
recurrence of cancer. Diane had decided a long time ago that if Abbie had
such a recurrence, she would let her go to a far better place. She knew
that she would be unable to put Abbie through more therapy and have perhaps yet
another recurrence. And so Diane told Abbie goodbye today. She told
her just how much she will always love her; how much we all loved her and how
much she will be missed. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"><o:p></o:p></SPAN> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">I told Diane that Miss Abbie
was certainly not an ordinary guide dog. She was much more. I think
Abbie thought of herself as a beloved pet in a guide dog’s harness. She
loved Diane so very much and she was such a funny, sweet girl who loved her
toys. She also loved Diane’s friends and colleagues more than a guide dog
should have, but then that was her way, and Diane was very forgiving of Abbie’s
antics in seeking out attention. I shouldn’t say this, but I remember one
particular flight to Washington, DC, when Abbie just got up from Diane’s aisle
and came wandering back to find Julie, Buna and I. She was awake and by
golly, she wanted to go visiting. These are the kind of memories that will
help Diane get through her grief. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"><o:p></o:p></SPAN> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">Abbie was loved by so many;
people who never thought of themselves as dog people. Did I say that she
will be missed? <o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">Hell, I’ve gone through 10
Kleenexes writing this. I am a cat person through and through, but I
surely did love that silly dog. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"><o:p></o:p></SPAN> </P>
<P class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">This was such a difficult
decision for Diane to make and I ask that you please give her some time to
grieve and process all of this and do please keep her in your thoughts. No
doubt, I haven’t thought of everyone who should be informed, so if you could
pass this information along, I would appreciate it. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
