LOUIS BRAILLE BICENTENNIAL

A COLORADO CELEBRATION

 

WHEN:          June 9, 2009 

 

WHERE:        The Colorado Center for the Blind (CCB)

 

TIME:            Program starts at 9:00 a.m. followed by Braille Carnival
games, Braille cookies, and sale of Louis Braille Bicentennial Silver Dollar
issued by the U.S. Mint

 

WHAT:         CCB and the National Federation of the Blind of Colorado
invite you to join them as they celebrate the 200th Birthday of Louis
Braille, creator of the primary system of reading and writing used by people
who are blind. 

 

WHY:             To announce CCB's new year-round Youth Education Program
with a focus on improving literacy for blind children in Colorado and to
recognize the critical role Braille plays in the independence, freedom, and
success of the blind.
