Dear NFBCO members,
I would encourage all of us to contact our representative and voice your
disappointment in the Republican leadership in the House of
Representatives. They have stolen our rights from us. We, as blind
people, treasure the right to read and write. We have Braille, and we
have it for a reason. As we fight on to read books, we have discovered
taht when the government shuts down, our websites, the NLS ones, have
been shut down. I contacted my local Congresswoman DeGette, and she
will somehow get the message about the right to read. Because of
Boener's inability to lead a House of Representatives, we as blind
people are suffering. We have a major access burier, the right to
read. We sometimes can't afford to buy books, so what do we do? We
download them from the Bard site, but this time, the Bard site is shut
down. To all NFB Coloradans, please contact your local Congressperson
and tell them, "Make John Boener listen. Tell the rest of your
Representatives to reopen the government and encourage protections for
us blind people who want to read books."
Beth
