It's projection, of course, as Ariel points out.
He's not a reporter of course, but a minor celeb in some circles who
also runs.
What he gives us is cloying pity. I think I'd feel pretty icky if I
had had him for a running guide to discover these are his true
feelings. Of course, a true conversation with the blind guy he runs
with could have been instructive, and perhaps still could be.
But as Jacobus TenBroek stated at the end of his speech, "Within the
Grace of God," what arrogance!
