Greetings -
Can a blind person solder electronic components? It's a handy skill
for those interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math
(STEM) areas.

One blind Physics student knows that it can be done, and what's more
she's ready to teach more blind students, 16 and older how to do it!

Help us find a few more blind/VI high school students to participate
in the BLAST program to teach blind youth to solder electronic
instruments.

Jamie Principato, a blind student at CU-Boulder in Physics, has a
grant to do this. And it will be happening at the Colorado Center for
the Blind on August 10, beginning at 9 a.m. and lasting into the early
afternoon. Lunch will be provided.

Jamie was featured in this Denver Post article, talking about her program:

Students need to be 16 years or older to participate. They will learn
the techniques that Jamie has developed for her own science and
technology endeavors. This can be an important step for blind and
visually impaired youth to realize that they can be actively involved
in STEM activities, not simply observers!

Interested students should contact Dan Burke at the Colorado Center
