The newly expanded southeast corridor of RTD Light Rail runs as morning commuters board on Nov. 20, 2006.
Starting Friday afternoon, Denver-area commuters finally will get advance notice if scheduled light rail trips will be canceled.

The Regional Transportation District announced Thursday that it will post canceled trips on its Rider Alerts web page. Riders can also opt for route-specific email alerts that are sent out at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Monday and Wednesday, which detail which trips in the days to follow are expected to be canceled.

Last-minute cancellations also will be sent out in daily email alerts.

The move comes after a months-long driver shortage during which RTD has said it had no choice but to cancel light rail trips without informing riders, throwing a wrench in many commutes. RTD officials hope this change will allow riders to better plan their commute.
