[Colorado-Talk] There’s Something About Scooters

Gary  are you referring to scooters that young people hop on and ride all over town on?  I have an electric scooter that I use to get around.  My disabilities have rendered my body in trouble.  I cant use a regular wheelchair bc my left side has nerve damage.  If I push with just my right arm I would do cork screws!!!!!

Im usually a good driver although very so often I do have adventures.

Right before this pandemic I went to a Goodwill store.  They had rearranged furniture and products so I was a bit lost.  I was in the book section and turned the corner right into a guy who was working at the store.

My leg got hurt and I hurt his foot.  I was apologizing right away; so was he.  He apologized and explained he was blind.  "So am I" I commiserated.   

I was so emotionally off-kilter that we both walked off.  If I had my wits about me I would have invited him to lunch.

The other incident happened last week.  My eyes weren't great and I didn't see a wall.  I ran right into the corner with my left knee.  I wasn't going fast but it was quite painful.  At first I was afraid that I broke my kneecap.  

My knee is swollen and very purple.  I live alone so no one gets to enjoy my groans and discolored leg.

So that's my scooter.  Downtown I do use that bike lane sometimes.  (The city isnt very careful with the cones and signs and I can't go on the sidewalks sometimes.)

I do get into arguments with bikes and pedicabs about who owns the roads.  I offer to go toe to toe with them and they go away.

The kids on the scooters and skateboards don't give me trouble.
