This bill, Colorado laws on Disability, passed its first committee
today unanimously.
It would make Colorado law follow the Americans with Disabilities Act,
with respect to Public entities, meaning state and local governments,
including special districts. It would also require state and local
governments to comply with the latest recognized standards for web
accessibility. As any of us on this list can likely attest, critical
services and information state and local government web sites are not
always accessible to us, and they need to be. Much of the testimony
and most of the questions focused on this aspect of the bill, but no
one opposed it.

It next goes to House Appropriations before it can go to the full
House, and hopefully on to the Senate. Rep David Ortiz in his first
term has worked with CCDC and the NFB and other stakeholders to arrive
at a bill that no one opposes, so our thanks goes to Rep. Ortiz!

Best,
Dan
