Good morning NFB of Colorado!

I'm forwarding the Legislative Alert from John Pare we all received
yesterday. As John says, if you haven't contacted Speaker Pelosi or
Majority Leader Schumer's offices yet to restore the ATAA to the Build
Back Better Act, please do so ASAP. That info is in John's message
below.

Also, we heard at the convention that Sen. Bennet is already a
cosponsor of the Senate version, S. 212. But we still need Sen.
Hickenlooper's cosponsorship. We've just sent another letter to his
aides urging him to cosponsor S. 212. Now, it's your turn to put a
little pressure on him.

Please call Sen. Hickenlooper's office today and ask that he become a
cosponsor of S. 212 - the Accessible Technology Affordability Act
(ATAA). Make sure you say S. 212 and that you are a member of the NFB
of Colorado! A bunch of calls will make the point that Sen.
Hickenlooper ought to pay attention to us!

Sen. John Hickenlooper
202-224-5941

While you are at it, you can call one of these Representatives who as
yet are not cosponsors if you live in their districts. The House
version of the ATAA is H.R. 431.

Rep. Doug Lamborn
(202) 834-5566

Rep. Ed Perlmutter
202-225-2645

Rep. Lauren
202-225-4761

Rep. Ken Buck
202-225-4676

Thanks to all of you for your contributions! You help make the NFB
strong and effective!

Dan

To: "nfbnet-members-list at nfbnet.org" <nfbnet-members-list at nfbnet.org>

Dear Federation Family:

On Monday, November 1, we issued a legislative alert asking all of you
to contact Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Schumer urging them to
restore the Access Technology Affordability Act (ATAA) to the Build
Back Better (BBB) Act. While our response was strong-we estimate
hundreds of emails were sent to each office-the ATAA was,
unfortunately, not restored.

Currently, the House version of the BBB is waiting for a Congressional
Budget Office score and is likely to be passed by the House during the
week of November 15. The good news for us is that the Senate is
extremely likely to change the BBB before passing it. This means we
have an opportunity to get the Access Technology Affordability Act
back in the bill.

As a result, we are updating our request from the November 1
legislative alert. First, if you have not already sent your email to
Speaker Pelosi or Majority Leader Schumer's office, please do so.
Additionally, if your individual Senator or Representative has not
cosponsored the Access Technology Affordability Act, please ask them
to do so. The more support the ATAA has in the House and Senate, the
better our chances will be to have it included in the Senate version
of the Build Back Better Act.

When you call or email, you might say the following:

"Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME], and I am a constituent of
[SENATOR/REPRESENTATIVE NAME]. I live in [CITY, STATE]. I would like
to urge [SENATOR/REPRESENTATIVE NAME] to cosponsor the Access
Technology Affordability Act, S. 212/H.R. 431. This legislation
removes an employment barrier commonly experienced by blind Americans
who cannot afford the high cost of access technology by creating a
refundable tax credit in the amount of $2,000 to offset the cost of
this technology.

Thanks."

A current list of Senate and House cosponsors is below. You can
contact your member of Congress by calling the Capitol Switchboard and
asking for the office in question. The number is 202-224-3121. We have
also attached contact lists for Senate and House offices to this
email. If you email your senators, please copy Jeff Kaloc at
jkaloc at nfb.org<mailto:jkaloc at nfb.org>. Your calls and emails do make a
difference.

Thank you for all that you do,
John
