Yes, we will all miss Scott. Minnesot’s loss was Colorado’s gain, but he really did touch a lot of people in his shortened life.

Scott is someone who will be with us forever! He gave so much and now we have his gift to give to others. WE are all so fortunate to have had Scott in our lives! He has changed the lives of blind people all over the world. 

 

I worked closely with Scott in our affiliate and also in my capacity as the director of the Colorado Center for the blind.   He served as our board chair and his thoughtfulness, intelligence,  passion and love have been guiding forces in our work. 

 

I will miss my talks with Scott. Flying with him and learning about air streams and runways. Having a Tanqueray and tonic with him.  Scott was generous in all ways thinking about others. He would want us to give back, just as he always gave back to us, to the NFB and the Center, and his family.

I am heartbroken, though I never personally met Scott. I didn’t even know he was ill until I received a message David Andrews sent to NFBTalk last night. I was going to write something today and ask someone to send the message to him and his family. As long as I’ve know about or been a part of NFB, I’ve known of Scott, and his work for all of us. I’ve loved his energy as I attended virtual conventions. I had such deep respect for him. I am very sad today, and I know that sadness is nothing to what all of you who knew him personally are feeling. Though I am not living in CO now, my heart is with you all and Scott’s family today. I am so grateful for all he did to give us all the chance to live the lives we want.

Hello NFBCO Family

 

We are heartbroken at the passing of our dear friend, colleague, and long time leader Scott LaBarre.  Scott is such a guiding force in our affiliate and center and it is hard to know how we will move forward without him.

 

Please send all of your love, good wishes, prayers, and positive energy to Anaheit, Alex, Carter, and the rest of their family.  Some of you have already been asking what the family needs. Please know that we will communicate more once we have information on what would be most helpful to Anaheit and the family.

 

We will also share more information regarding funeral arrangements/memorial service.

 

Thank you for all the support and love you sent Scott’s way during the final days.  Anaheit said that he took real joy in hearing messages from many of you. Right now, the best thing we can do is to love and support one another as we journey through this difficult time.
