We have exciting events planned for children and adults alike for this
month's FAST program. We're teaming up with the Colorado Organization
of Parents of Blind Children (COPBC) and The Blind Parents division of
the National Federation of the Blind of Colorado. We hope you'll join
us for an afternoon of fun and learning for all!

For Kids

and other games. younger kids will play a game, dance and listen to a
story read by one of our blind parents. Snacks will be provided.

For Parents/Guardians

Take part in a dynamic workshop. Meet Amira Lucas president of the
National Federation of the blind of Colorado Parents of blind
children. Learn about resources and opportunities that this vibrant
organization provides. Meet David Nietfeld Certified Orientation and
Mobility instructor. Learn about independent travel. When should your
child begin receiving services? Should your child be using a cane? How
much instruction is needed?

But we won't just talk about it. Next, you will be given a cane with a
blind fold or "Learning Shades." You'll have a lesson in basic cane
technique, including how to hold the cane and how to navigate around
the center. You'll even successfully negotiate the stairs. WE will
come back together to answer your questions and to plan future
workshops. And that's when the adults will get their snacks.

The Colorado Center for the Blind follows official guidelines to limit
exposure to and spread of COVID-19 as required by Tri-county Health,
the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, etc. These
include wearing masks indoors, social distancing, individually packed
snacks, and hand sanitizers available throughout the building.
