[Colorado-Talk] Paying With Square

Greetings:
Yesterday, I mentioned that it was not possible, using JAWS, to make a
Square payment-something that you might want to do to pay your dues to a
local chapter. This was due to the difficulty (or impossibility, perhaps) of
entering what Square refers to as a "shipping address." I think I also
pointed out that if one were to make the payment using an iPhone running
VoiceOver, the shipping address would be easier to enter; all you would have
to do is to type part of the street address and then find, with one finger,
the address on screen which was the closest match. Once found, you could
perform a double-tap to select the correct address.
Well, as it turns out, there is what I regard as an unnecessary convoluted
procedure which we, who are JAWS users, can follow in order to make our
Square payment.
* First, when entering the shipping address, type as much of the
address as you can-for example, 14153 E Linvale.
* Next, turn on the JAWS cursor by pressing the JAWS key and the
Number Pad minus key together.
* Move down the screen using the Down Arrow key. You should start to
hear a couple of matching addresses. Focus on the one which matches your
address and then press the Number Pad slash key to simulate a Left Mouse
Click.
* Finally, switch back to the JAWS Virtual Cursor by pressing Number
Pad Plus.
If you arrow up to the edit field where your street address is to be
entered, you will discover that Square has filled in your address, your
city, state, and your zip code.
I maintain that Square did not have to design its site this way. But at
least, there is a way to deal with this problem. I am happy that I could
share this hopefully useful information with all of you.
Best regards,
Curtis Chong
