Well, I am not sure exactly what the author is getting at. I feel that blindness is so individualized, how one does daily tasks and presents themselves, it will vary from person to person. I am not very concerned how sighted people view me, as I don’t really care. 😊 I feel it depends on where someone is in their adjustment to their blindness, the intersectionality of other characteristics, as well as their age at onset of blindness will all determine so many things.

I just read this article and found it very interesting, would love to see
some discussion here. My thoughts boil down to this: if blindness is truly
no more than a nuisance, and if we are truly free to live the lives we want
as blind people, then y is it okay for one blind person to tell another how
to live their life? Blindness is one, and only one, factor that affects a
person's day to day existence.

I making the most of my experiences, pulling my weight, and not selling
myself short when it comes to work and leisure alike, and if not, why not?
It’s not always straightforward to know. But I’m grateful the blind
community is there to encourage me to ask these questions of myself. Equally
important, though, is that the construct of an ideal blind person is just
that, a construct, because a person is all each of us is.
