Blake to Market streets (Block 0)
* No current activity
Market to Larimer streets (Block 1)
* Phase 1 of improvements underway
Larimer to Lawrence streets (Block 2)
* Phase 1 of improvements underway
* Larimer intersection work through mid-November
* Double-lane closures
* Full intersection closure as soon as mid-November for approximately four weeks
* Larimer Street will be in a temporary two-way configuration between 15th & 16th and 16th & 17th streets to allow access
Lawrence to Arapahoe streets (Block 3)
* Phase 1 of improvements underway
* Lawrence intersection work started on Oct. 24
* Double-lane closures
* Full intersection closure as soon as December
* Lawrence Street will be in a temporary two-way configuration between 15th & 16th and 16th & 17th streets to allow access
Arapahoe to Curtis streets (Block 4)
* Phase 1 of improvements underway
* Xcel utility work on Arapahoe Street
* Bike lane closure on Arapahoe and partial sidewalk closure as soon as Oct. 26 for less than a week
Curtis to California streets (Block 5-7)
* No current activity
California to Broadway (Blocks 8-13)
* Preconstruction utility work on California to start in late October
* Single-lane closure
* No light rail impacts
* Potholing work underway
Potholing Activities
* The 16th Street Mall Project will continue potholing activities to confirm decades of existing data about conditions on, around, and under the Mall.
* By potholing, which includes drilling holes into the pavement in multiple locations, the team will be able to confirm the location of existing underground utilities. By identifying existing utilities, such as water/sewer pipes and electrical conduit lines, the team will be able to reduce the chance of unexpectedly encountering one of these lines during construction.
* Activities will require occasional lane and sidewalk closures on the 16th Street Mall and on cross streets between Market Street and Broadway. Signage will clearly identify how pedestrians and motorists can navigate any expected closures.
RTD Bus Routes
The RTD Free MallRide shuttle continues to run during the 16th Street Mall Project, rerouted to 15th and 17th streets between Wazee and Welton streets. To meet 16th Street Mall visitors where they are, project team members will staff a mobile kiosk on the Mall to provide project information and answer questions from the public. Find us at the Outer Space area at 16th and Welton streets on Thursday, Oct. 27, from noon to 1 p.m. We hope to see you there!
