The consequences of a DUI: CDOT launches second pop-up exhibit in Denver

Coloradans urged to end summer safely by always driving sober


DENVER — What really happens when someone gets pulled over when driving impaired?  For a second time in a week, the Colorado Department of Transportation and the Denver Police Department will host a pop-up exhibit that walks people through the lengthy process of a DUI arrest. The event will be at the Art RiNo festival, which is a celebration of art including music performances and special events.

WHAT: Pop-up DUI arrest exhibit

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 9, 3-4 p.m. — exhibit on-site from 3-6 p.m.

WHERE: RiNo Artpark - 1900 35th St., Denver, CO 80216

WHY: Impaired drivers have taken 160 lives on Colorado roads thus far in 2022. That is 36% of all roadway fatalities this year. The Labor Day holiday weekend often sees a rise in DUI-related deaths on our roadways. Of the 78 traffic deaths that occurred during the Labor Day holiday weekend over the last 10 years in Colorado, 45%, involved impaired driving.
