Larimer and 16th Streets Intersection Closure
The intersection at Larimer and 16th streets will temporarily close starting as soon as Thursday, Oct. 6, and will remain closed for approximately one month. This closure is required for Mall improvement activities including utility, concrete flatwork, traffic signal, and lighting infrastructure installation across the intersection. Please watch for traffic signage for closure and detour information.
During the intersection closure, Larimer Street will be in a temporary two-way configuration between 15th and 17th streets to accommodate access to parking, with a U-turn required at the 16th Street Mall intersection. A temporary signal will be installed at 17th Street. On-street parking will be limited along Larimer Street. Access to parking structures and surface lots will be maintained.

If traveling on Larimer Street towards 16th Street, motorists will be detoured left onto 17th Street, right onto Arapahoe Street, right onto 15th Street and then left onto Blake Street. One crosswalk at the intersection will be closed at a time, but access will be maintained for people moving through the intersection.
Workdays and hours are anticipated to be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Weekend work will occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Material deliveries and staging may occur overnight. All project activities and schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.

Potholing Activities
* The 16th Street Mall Project will continue potholing activities to confirm decades of existing data about conditions on, around, and under the Mall.
* By potholing, which includes drilling holes into the pavement in multiple locations, the team will be able to confirm the location of existing underground utilities. By identifying existing utilities, such as water/sewer pipes and electrical conduit lines, the team will be able to reduce the chance of unexpectedly encountering one of these lines during construction.
* Activities will require occasional lane and sidewalk closures on the 16th Street Mall and on cross streets between Market Street and Broadway. Signage will clearly identify how pedestrians and motorists can navigate any expected closures.

The RTD Free MallRide shuttle continues to run during the 16th Street Mall Project, rerouted to 15th and 17th streets between Wazee and Welton streets.
