Fences are Moving on Blocks 5 and 8

You can soon expect construction fencing to move outward on Blocks 5 and 8, leaving 10' of sidewalk on each side of the Mall. This is to prepare for transit wall construction, one of the milestones you can track on the website<https://cig-pr.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=fc34ba15e6547b8d998f63f6a&id=57bf95c454&e=0e4069ae0b>.

  * Block 5 (Curtis to Champa): Fences move outward as soon as Wednesday, July 19
  * Block 8 (California to Welton): Fences move outward as soon as Tuesday, July 25

Work days and hours are anticipated to be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekend work will occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Material deliveries and staging may occur overnight. Work and schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.

Here’s what you can expect:

  * Work continues in the center transitway area.
  * Pedestrian walkways and access to storefronts will be maintained on both sides of the Mall.
  * Fencing will surround the work site and include signs to direct people traveling on the Mall.
  * Flaggers will be on-site at intersections to direct drivers and pedestrians as needed.
  * All businesses will remain accessible.

Cleveland Place and 16th Street Intersection Closure

The intersection at Cleveland Place and the 16th Street Mall will temporarily close for Xcel gas line relocation work starting as soon as Monday, July 24, and will remain closed for approximately six weeks. Please watch for signage with closure and detour information.

Here’s what you can expect:

  * Lane Closures: During the intersection closure, there will be no right turn onto Cleveland Place from Broadway. Cleveland will be in a two-way configuration between 15th and 16th streets. There will be a single-lane closure on Broadway near Cleveland for a portion of this closure for several weeks.
  * Parking Access: In order to access the Sheraton parking garage via the 16th Street entrance, use Court Place and turn right onto 16th Street. There is also garage access from Cleveland that will not be affected by this work. Flaggers will assist those entering and exiting the Sheraton parking garage onto 16th Street. On-street parking will be limited along Cleveland Place between 15th and 16th streets. Access to parking structures and surface lots will be maintained.
  * Bike Access: Bicycles will be rerouted south on Cleveland along the crosswalk and then detoured back across Cleveland to the original bike path location. One crosswalk at the intersection will be closed at a time, but access will be maintained for people moving through the intersection.
