Subject: Disability Updates, Job Postings, and Engagement Opportunities

As we close out Disability Pride Month I am happy to share several great opportunities to contribute to making Colorado the best place to live for people with all types of disabilities. Please share the opportunities below with your networks, we want to find the very best people and ideas.

Colorado Disability Opportunity Office (CDOO)

This Office was established in HB24-1360 <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__leg.colorado.gov_bills_hb24-2D1360&d=DwMFaQ&c=sdnEM9SRGFuMt5z5w3AhsPNahmNicq64TgF1JwNR0cs&r=POXFNpI9lzB-36NXnN77zUaZUGHpZJgDLQuTybdO0vs&m=0LomGPtCY97iIq9WP8G1ew9Q1C_jkaAA_pcGjw1m1tvk-TAUG2r20xEctBCLtbex&s=FGzExbp2uX0cDiJWs2TZzaEeaMuChHKeoIyuCMzpSHc&e=> to continue disability policy work long into the future. The Office is housed in CDLE and has a direct line to the Governor's Policy team. The Director job posting <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.governmentjobs.com_careers_colorado_jobs_4600352_colorado-2Ddisability-2Dopportunity-2Doffice-2Ddirector&d=DwMFaQ&c=sdnEM9SRGFuMt5z5w3AhsPNahmNicq64TgF1JwNR0cs&r=POXFNpI9lzB-36NXnN77zUaZUGHpZJgDLQuTybdO0vs&m=0LomGPtCY97iIq9WP8G1ew9Q1C_jkaAA_pcGjw1m1tvk-TAUG2r20xEctBCLtbex&s=ckdsLaSlYbPZI3PZZ5_Sf7TjkQoqqItcCQHWEiFFjMg&e=> is now open for applications. This is open to candidates from around the country, so please share with friends and colleagues you think might be good candidates to be the inaugural Director wherever they live.

Colorado Disability Funding Committee (CDFC) <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__disabilityfundingcommittee.colorado.gov&d=DwMFaQ&c=sdnEM9SRGFuMt5z5w3AhsPNahmNicq64TgF1JwNR0cs&r=POXFNpI9lzB-36NXnN77zUaZUGHpZJgDLQuTybdO0vs&m=0LomGPtCY97iIq9WP8G1ew9Q1C_jkaAA_pcGjw1m1tvk-TAUG2r20xEctBCLtbex&s=s6QiMnG1vDayyMNrRxuVxaL-EcVQgfizfZNFyD0WV3o&e=>

This committee has made a significant turnaround in recent years thanks to support from Lt. Governor Primavera and a great group of appointed committee members. In fiscal year 2024-2025 CDFC has $5 million appropriated for grants and revenue continues to increase so this amount should continue to go up in future years.

The Committee moved to CDLE under CDOO as part of HB24-1360. The Coordinator job posting <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.governmentjobs.com_careers_colorado_jobs_4600043_colorado-2Ddisability-2Dfund-2Dcoordinator&d=DwMFaQ&c=sdnEM9SRGFuMt5z5w3AhsPNahmNicq64TgF1JwNR0cs&r=POXFNpI9lzB-36NXnN77zUaZUGHpZJgDLQuTybdO0vs&m=0LomGPtCY97iIq9WP8G1ew9Q1C_jkaAA_pcGjw1m1tvk-TAUG2r20xEctBCLtbex&s=hUQclBkODckfROAPqSJ-ZBr0vIREeK_RSMYUkqkI4uA&e=> is now open for applications. This position is only open to Colorado residents.

Three positions are currently open on the appointed Committee as well. Statute requires one of these be someone with business experience, the others are general positions provided the majority of the Committee remains people with disabilities or their immediate family members. Given the amount of grant funding awarded by this Committee, members with grant experience would be very helpful. Serving on the Committee does not disqualify organizations you are associated with from receiving grants, recusals are just needed if that happens. Applications can be submitted on the Governor's Board and Commissions application website <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.colorado.gov_governor_boards-2Dcommissions-2Dapplication&d=DwMFaQ&c=sdnEM9SRGFuMt5z5w3AhsPNahmNicq64TgF1JwNR0cs&r=POXFNpI9lzB-36NXnN77zUaZUGHpZJgDLQuTybdO0vs&m=0LomGPtCY97iIq9WP8G1ew9Q1C_jkaAA_pcGjw1m1tvk-TAUG2r20xEctBCLtbex&s=aNCWDHL5QEM42z3xHl1l7BHOMxPXeVUwF7RScKKnMR0&e=> , choose "Disability Funding Committee, Colorado" from the drop down. The full Committee meets every other month and the subcommittees on grants and license plates meet as needed between full Committee meetings.

Task Force on the Rights of Coloradans with Disabilities

This task force was established in HB23-1296 <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__leg.colorado.gov_bills_hb23-2D1296&d=DwMFaQ&c=sdnEM9SRGFuMt5z5w3AhsPNahmNicq64TgF1JwNR0cs&r=POXFNpI9lzB-36NXnN77zUaZUGHpZJgDLQuTybdO0vs&m=0LomGPtCY97iIq9WP8G1ew9Q1C_jkaAA_pcGjw1m1tvk-TAUG2r20xEctBCLtbex&s=kladccZSpYUlxLdtKcmwuXmVk7AYnw_gVdFLE86JoX8&e=> , Lt. Governor Primavera is the Chair and Rep. David Ortiz is Vice Chair. There are four statutory subcommittees:

*	The Rewrite Subcommittee, which must study and make recommendations concerning the various issues related to the rewrite and modernization of the Colorado Revised Statutes concerning civil rights of persons with disabilities;
*	The Outdoors Subcommittee, which must study and make recommendations related to the basic accessibility of outdoor spaces for persons with disabilities;
*	The Housing Subcommittee, which must study and make recommendations related to the affordability, accessibility, and attainability of housing for persons with disabilities; and
*	The Government Subcommittee, which must focus on basic physical and programmatic accessibility within state and local government.

The subcommittees are beginning to consider ideas they may include in their reports in December, broad feedback on these is desired. All meeting information, recommendations, and ways to submit feedback are on the EngageDORA website <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__engagedora.org_rights-2Dof-2Dcoloradans-2Dwith-2Ddisabilities&d=DwMFaQ&c=sdnEM9SRGFuMt5z5w3AhsPNahmNicq64TgF1JwNR0cs&r=POXFNpI9lzB-36NXnN77zUaZUGHpZJgDLQuTybdO0vs&m=0LomGPtCY97iIq9WP8G1ew9Q1C_jkaAA_pcGjw1m1tvk-TAUG2r20xEctBCLtbex&s=2BX4j31oPmKTOYnjFFPDObvGq1vgG1acAHZVvWfKI4Y&e=> for the task force.

Best,

Josh
