Holiday spirit is alive and well on 16th Street! Check out the holiday event map and information below for key events and activities downtown.
While you explore the holiday lights, unique shops and local eateries, be sure to check out the newly completed blocks offering fresh, vibrant spaces to enjoy a warm beverage or some festive sweets. Please refer to wayfinding signage and stay alert in areas near construction for a safe and cheerful visit. Stay up-to-date on current project activities by visiting the project website, and don’t forget to support local businesses during your visit — shop small, support big this holiday season!

General Project Activity Notes:
* All construction activities are schedule and weather-dependent and subject to change
* Work may require intermittent lane closures at intersections between Wazee and Broadway throughout construction. Pedestrian and business access will be maintained
* Intersections will have various crosswalk closures for the duration of the project. At least three of the four crosswalks will be open at all times. Follow signage and plastic water barriers, where present, to a safe crossing location
Market to Curtis (Blocks 1-4)
* Reconstruction improvements complete!
Curtis to Champa (Block 5)

* Single, left-lane closure on Curtis Street to accommodate the turning radius of the RTD Free MallRide shuttles. This began Sept. 14 and will remain while the MallRide detour is in this configuration
Champa to Stout (Block 6)

* Welton Street is operating as a one-way, northbound street between 15th and 17th Streets

Glenarm to Tremont (Block 10)

Expected Work Hours
Workdays and hours are anticipated to be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Weekend work will occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. A noise variance was approved in January 2024 which allows work to take place throughout the night under specific circumstances<https://cig-pr.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=fc34ba15e6547b8d998f63f6a&id=c0cfaa24f1&e=0e4069ae0b>. Affected parties will be notified 7 days in advance if night work will be taking place.
Heavy equipment may operate between hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., any day of the week. Material deliveries and staging may occur overnight. All project activities and schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.

RTD Free MallRide
The RTD Free MallRide continues to run during the 16th Street Mall Project. Shuttles operate on a portion of 16th Street between Union Station and Curtis Street. The Free MallRide continues to be rerouted to 15th and 17th streets between Curtis Street and Civic Center Station.
