Hello everyone:
I want to draw your attention to a convention breakout session that you
might be interested in attending, particularly if you use an iPhone and have
some confidence in your ability to write in Braille. This is a session on
Braille Screen Input (BSI) for the iPhone.
Braille Screen Input has been available in the iPhone ecosystem for more
than ten years. Yet, there are too many good Braille users who, for whatever
reason, have not been able to take advantage of this incredible feature.
With Braille Screen Input, you can enter information much faster than you
can using the tiny little keyboard on the screen, and you can also avoid
having people hear what you are writing when you use dictation.
The breakout session is scheduled for Friday, October 25, from 10:00-11:30
a.m., and it will take place in the Lone Tree room at the Marriott Denver
South hotel. This will be an interactive hands-on session where we can work
together to get you started using Braille Screen Input on your iPhone or, at
the very least, set your iPhone up so that you can turn this feature on when
you want to start working with it.
Here is what the convention agenda has to say about this session.
10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
SETTING UP AND USING BRAILLE SCREEN INPUT (BSI) ON YOUR IPHONE
Lone Tree
Curtis Chong, Aurora, Colorado
Did you know that you can write Braille on your iPhone screen using six
fingers to input the Braille? Braille Screen Input is an accessibility
feature on iOS that allows users to type braille directly on their iPhone
screen. Bring your iPhone to this session and Curtis Chong will offer a
step-by-step, hands-on practice that will help you get Braille Screen Input
working on your iPhone.
I look forward to working with anyone to make it possible for Braille Screen
Input to be an integral part of how you work with your iPhone.
Kind regards,
Curtis Chong
