Colorado Click Ruler Program

The Colorado Click Ruler Program (CCRP) is an initiative started by the
Mountains & Plains NFBCO Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of
Colorado to assist blind Coloradans in obtaining free and low cost Click
rulers.

Click Rulers: What Are They?

A Click ruler is an accessible measuring device that is accurate to 1/16th
of an inch for the blind. The Click ruler unit will measure up to 12 inches
and one-foot extensions can be added to measure longer than a foot. This
tool is an extremely valuable for a blind person wanting to do woodworking,
crafts, and DIY projects around the house. Check out these videos for a more
in-depth look at the Click ruler:

Why Did We Start The CCRP?

The click Ruler retails at $100 from the NFB Marketplace. It is a well-built
tool that will last for years, but many blind people do not have one due to
the cost. The Mountains & Plains NFBCO wants to encourage blind people to
reach their highest potential and started the CCRP to provide Click Rulers
at a reduced rate for the blind.

How It Works

The Mountains & Plains NFBCO will be accepting applications from December
20, 2024 to January 31, 2025 for the first offering of the program. Any
applications received after January 31, 2025 will not be considered for the
first distribution of Click Rulers. Applicant's will fill out an application
with their information and a short essay about why and how a Click Ruler
will help them. The applicant's have an option to participate in a cost
share of the Click Ruler from $5 to $50. Cost share is not a requirement,
but the more people who participate in cost sharing will help us distribute
more Click Rulers to those who want one.

After the application deadline, the selection committee will choose the
recipients based on predetermined parameters. Once the recipients of the
first distribution are chosen, they will be contacted with further
instructions.
