A brief explanation of the streets of the French Quarter.

 

Street guide

 

The French quarter's borders are:

north Rampard  on the north

Canal street on the west

Esplanade avenue on the east

and the Mississippi River on the south edge.

The grid pattern is not true north to south and east to west, but rather the
streets are laid out somewhat diagonally.  The following list of street
names are listed consecutively and are labeled for the predominant
directions they run.

(There are many small streets that only run for one or two blocks which are
not listed here.)
