Greetings chapter members and friends,

I will be leaving from my house in south Boulder at 3:30 pm tomorrow to travel down to the RTD protest and board meeting. Anyone who would like to car pool with me let me know, and I will give you my address.

Keep reading below my message for the protest details.

I am planning on making a sign that says, “We can’t drive. Don’t cut our rides.”

If you are able to join the RTD board meeting in person we will appreciate you helping us pack out the room. If you can’t be physically in the room be prepared to fill the Zoom room. Please note: I do not have the Zoom details, but I’m sure someone will be sharing them tomorrow. Either way be prepared to make public comment so that all our voices are heard before the RTD board makes their decision about the changes to the Access On Demand program.

Join us and make your voice heard!

At your service,

Maryann Migliorelli—President

Subject: [Colorado-Talk] Fw: Access-on-Demand

Hi All,

Please see below note from CCDC on a planned demonstration for Access-on-Demand at the RTD office prior to the board meeting next Tuesday evening. We encourage anyone who is able to attend to do so as these sort of things are much more effective with a large turn out. Additionally, following is the board meeting at 5:30. It would be great if individuals could plan to attend and make public comment at the meeting in order to demonstrate to the board what is important to us.

Please let me know whether you plan to attend the demonstration, board meeting or both. If you are interested in making public comment but are not sure what to say, I am happy to help you put something together prior to the meeting.

Thanks,
Cody

Subject: Access-on-Demand

Letter of Action (please share with your networks)

On the 16th of July the Operations and Safety Committee of RTD voted to forward the staff recommendations for Access-on-Demand to the full board meeting on Jul 29, 2025. This is problematic because of the complexity of this issue. The role of the committee is to narrow down and gather consensus on what is the best course of action to forward to the full board of directors. Unfortunately, this did not happen. Instead, the committee kicked the can down the road to a full board whose body consists of some Directors that are not familiar with the subject matter.

Our issues that were not addressed were,

3 month waiting period for qualified paratransit users to utilize AOD

$6.50 fare (which in some cases would cost some people 26 dollars a day to take their child to and from school due to lack of multi-ride option)

Restrictions on geographic and time for AOD to operate. (there was an amendment to change geographic restrictions that was passed) pending passage by the full board.

Using a baseball analogy, we are down to our third strike. We need you for 1 hour to be SEEN!

On July 29th we need you and our brothers and sisters in the disability community to stand in solidarity in front of the RTD offices at 1660 Blake between 4:30 and 5:30 PM. Attending the board meeting will be optional. However, for one hour we need the board of directors to see and hear the people they will be affecting by making changes to AOD. Show up with your voice, your friends, your service animal and posters. WE NEED YOU!

Please respond to this email if you plan on attending.

RULES AND REMINDERS:

This is a non-violent action. Please move if security or police ask you to move. This does not mean you need to be quiet. Be as loud as you can and bring a poster expressing your needs or frustration. Dress appropriately. It may be warm or it may rain. Bring an umbrella to be safe. Bring water and a snack to keep yourself energized.

So we can get a head count please reply in the affirmative and how many people will join you.
