How do we make Colorado the best place in America for people with disabilities to work and thrive?

That’s the challenge we put to state lawmakers this year. And while we aren’t ready to declare victory, we made a great deal of progress.

One example: House Bill 25-1017<https://api.neonemails.com/emails/tracking/click-link/_fFMYSnMfCkTjAxdyTvBXulsgAyamqdo-vuMi5414m4=/rKRn3otrzdijNkfwWDCBfbOZpcB-Je4IkLj0JHEnh04=>, which protects the right of Coloradans with disabilities to live in the most integrated, least restrictive setting. Disability Law Colorado led the effort to enshrine the Supreme Court’s landmark Olmstead decision in state statute.

We wanted to ensure that Coloradans retain this right even if the Supreme Court weakens it. The General Assembly agreed: HB 1017 passed the Senate by a vote of 32-3 and the House by 63-0.

That bill was one of 20 we steered to the Governor’s desk this year. In fact, all but one of the measures we supported<https://api.neonemails.com/emails/tracking/click-link/_fFMYSnMfCkTjAxdyTvBXulsgAyamqdo-vuMi5414m4=/rKRn3otrzdijNkfwWDCBfT34jZ8GOxd5hkd_cQH9vOU=> were successful.
