Keeping us strong!</div><div><br></div><div>Meeting minutes:</div><div> Call to order Wild West Metro Chapter, High Noon meeting February 6, 2916</div><div> Our contact email address is: <a href="mailto:pawcuzinc@gmail.com">pawcuzinc@gmail.com</a> </div><div> Kevan Worley asked us to introduce ourselves and talk about our backgrounds and involvement with the NFB. </div><div>List of participants at the this first meeting were: Melissa could you add the list of folks and contact info?(if you think appropriate)</div><div> We voted by acclaim to hold the Wild West Metro Chapter on the first Saturday of each month at the Carmody Recreational Center located at 2200 South Kipling, Lakewood, CO</div><div> The meeting will be held at noon. </div><div> Paul will create a website and a facebook page.</div><div> </div><div> Our two primary goals at this time. The first goal is to build membership. <span style="">Melissa Fishburn will chair the group but e</span><span style="">veryone will be involved in that effort. She will reach out to CCB, Robert Dyson, and Fletcher Miller to begin with. </span><span style="">Marleen collected names and contact information from attendees at this first meeting. She will also reach out to Lavern Dale at our local VR and ask her to present to our group. </span><span style=""> </span></div><div><span style=""> Scott ? is taking the lead on fund raising efforts. He is going to publicize at his cafeterias, that a percentage of sales will go to this new chapter of the NFB during a set time. All of this is to be determined. He and the other vendors all had inspired ideas about how this program might evolve.</span></div><div> Funds raised will help support this meeting and also scholarships to help members attend National Convention and Washington Seminar. </div><div> Kevan Worley - the sole member from this meeting who actually was able to attend - on Blizzard Hill, (aka Washington Seminar) gave us a report that highlighted the tenacity of our organization. The key issues that members took to the Hill were;</div><div> 1. The minimum wage initiative</div><div> 2. Establishing a commission to ensure accessible materials for students pursuing a higher education</div><div> 3. Blind veterans being able to take advantage of space available seats on military transport planes</div><div> </div><div> We will ask the State affiliate president, Scott La Barre to help us with a start up grant, Brad will request between $300 and $700 to help with room fees which are $ $20.00 per hour. Speaking of Scott, he was unable to join us because he was at the bar. </div><div><br></div><div> We all talked about what the NFB is and what it has to offer. Newsline and Colorado Talk were two features that we were all encouraged to take advantage of and sign up.</div><div> Mike is going to connect with Gary Van Dorn before our next meeting to see what information he can get about partial Access-a-Ride books being revoked. </div><div><br></div><div>Announcements:</div><div> May 17th through the 20th </div><div> Blind Merchants meeting is in Chicago.
