expansion bill passed out of the Senate (thank you Sen. Danielson) and is scheduled
for its first committee meeting tomorrow morning. This is with the House State,
Civic, Military and Veterans Committee. Our House sponsors are Stephanie Vigil
of Colorado Springs and David Ortiz of Centennial. <span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 10pt;line-height:115%;font-size:11pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif"><span lang="EN" style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">If the bill passes in the committee,
it will then go to the House Appropriations Committee, hopefully on Monday. If
it passes Appropriations, it has two votes on the floor of the House. These
votes must be on separate days, so you can see that if we are going to get this
passed, we will just barely have the time. That's because the legislative
session ends on Wednesday, May 8!<span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 10pt;line-height:115%;font-size:11pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif"><span lang="EN" style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span> </span></span></p>

all 65 of the House members, and we'll be there Saturday morning to testify of
course. You can do one of two (or both) things to help get SB24-153 over the
first hurdle.<span></span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 10pt;line-height:115%;font-size:11pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif"><span lang="EN" style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0in 0in 10pt;line-height:115%;font-size:11pt;font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif"><span lang="EN" style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">1. Come and be in the room. We don't
need a lot of testimony at this late stage. But canes and guide dogs in the
room will make an impact. Right now, if they see someone cares about these
little bills, they are more likely to pass them.<span> </span>The committee meets after the full house
adjourns in HCR 0107. When does the House adjourn on Saturday morning? That
cannot be determined from what we know, unfortunately. The full House usually
meets at 9:00 AM, but there is no calendar entries as i write this. <span></span></span></p>

I have signed up to testify on behalf of NFBCO in support of SB-24-153 News Access for Consumers Who Are Print-Disabled. The bill will be heard by the State, Civic, Military and Veterans Affairs committee. We don't know the exact time of the hearing. It will be heard following the adjournment of the house which is typically around 9:30 or so, but who really knows given the fact that the general assembly will adjourn at midnight this Wednesday. We have to get this bill out of this committee. Then it has to pass house appropriations. Then it has to pass the full house. Our task over the next 5 days is daunting. But it is doable! I plan to be at the capital at about 9 am. I will head directly to hearing room HCR 0107. The bill is sponsored in the house by representatives Stephine Vigil and David Ortiz.
