Such individuals would include those leaders and 'foot soldiers' who helped make systemic changes promoting the rights of persons with disabilities. Many of these individuals worked through one of the myriad of organizations providing an array of services to persons with disabilities. Also, there were individuals with disabilities that were role models who were out and about our State helping and mentoring less fortunate persons with disabilities to share in the joys and responsibilities of community activities. I personally have identified about 70 individuals I have known, as early as 1972 to the present, who were icons in the disability rights movement. I am hoping to contact those who are living and to also pay homage to those that have died.
