As an alum of AmeriCorps via the national civilian community corps,
I've worked in communities that really benifited from the services
thatAmeriCorps could give. We are talking many many individuals who
gave of themselves to improve the quality of life for many youth,
elderly, homeless and other disadvantage populations, as well as
assisted in the deliverly of services from many community based
agencies.
Words can't describe the oppertunities that non-military service
provide and what people are standing to loseout on if these cuts take
place.
for many, they get a taste of service from the Ameri-platform, many
gain confidence, a better sense of self and community and if all of
these things that could be take place, it would truly be a dark day
in the service field, as a strong base for these effors get torn
away.
