[Community-service] Mission Statement text

Thank you for the text of the mission statement. It's interesting and I
know I want to be a part of a group that has this mission. I really believe
in giving back and not always being served. I believe that being a resource
for persons facing discrimination is a very important part of the mission.
I've faced much discrimination in my life in regards to community service.
then again, I've also had enjoyable times volunteering with a variety of
disabled children, youths, and adults. I guess I've always wanted to do
disaster relief or something like going on a mission trip but there were
always excuses for why I couldn't do it. I believe that if I had had a
group devoted to community service, I would have known better how to get
around those old stereotypes held by sighted persons.

Okay, let me say something. I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings when I
suggested that there be a partnership between the Human Services Division
and the Community Service Group. I didn't mean that the entire group had to
participate, rather that certain interested parties could work with both
groups so that blind persons aren't left behind in service of any kind.

Let's keep dialogues going and be part of the solution. That's it for me.

Regards,

Denise
