[Community-service] What is Federation philosophy?

The Philosophy does triple duty.

1 Encourages me and lets me know I am not alone. Providing a pathway for support, a safe space to laugh at my mistakes and share my successes.

2. Sends a powerful message to the public, if they will accept it.

However if others do not accept the facts, shame on them. I will continue to live through their ignorance and hope that they get it one day.

3. Stability and Legacy, knowing that for 75 years, others laid this foundation. Struggled with more issues than I do today and survived. Continuing to give me the courage to fight another day with a sense of responsibility for those that come after me.

That’s my speech for the evening! Happy Holiday’s, Cheryl

 Thanks for the excerpt.

I’m not sure if it answered the question of just what is Federation Philosophy?

I copied this from the NFB web page.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.

This I

s

so true but we have to struggle against those low expectations every day.

Hi all,
As you are aware, The community Service Division is a Division of the National Federation of the Blind. As such, we adhere to the policies of the Federation and believe in it’s philosophy.
Now, what do you know or believe to be the philosophy of the NFB?
