I've been around this group for a long time, but since I'm pretty busy I
don't get a chance to sit down and write ... But I do read. When this group
was first started, I was one of the first speakers, as I've been
volunteering in the non-profit sector for quite a while now, for years at
the Canadian Red Cross and over a year with the Canadian Cancer Society. My
role at RC has changed over the years, and in both jobs, I work mainly in
volunteer resources, doing all the initial screening and intake of all new
potential volunteers. I enjoy all the activitise I do in all aspects of the
job I do. I couldn't get a job, so I decided to go ahead and start my own
business, which does have its ups and downs, January/February is usually the
more slower months, so am catching up and doing early spring cleaning and on
top of that, working at RC until March when I go back to the Canadian Cancer
Society once the snow melts (experiencing an exorbitantly bad winter here,
and I dislike riding transit as the buses are dirty for Aiken). Red Cross is
just right next door to where I live, so it is convenient for me *grin*. The
database the Cancer Society uses is in transition and my boss has to undergo
training before she trains me. When I'm pet sitting I work from home a fair
bit, especially when I'm busy *grin* and during the winter months as I've
mentioned above. If you are interested in the kind of business I run, it is
all in my signature line...
Stay warm everyone!!!!

Subject: [Community-service] Why did you join?
hi all,
I've noticed some new names on the list and some names that have been
around for a while but get pretty quiet sometimes.
I'm just wondering what made you join the list?
what did/do you hoe to gain from the other great people on this list?
Best,
Darian
