[Community-service] Why did you join?

Members have commented it has felt good to do something for someone else.
There are a number of 40 something's in the Chapter who lost vision later in
life. An opportunity such as this gives the meaning that there is
something that can be done for others and not want to lie in the sorrow of
vision loss.
Then, there are persons in the community who help us with obtaining some of
the items we donate. When I mention we do this, I always get help from
others. Since they see us each year, we are always welcome to come to
locations to give out the kits.
One church we use had a date change for their Thanksgiving meal. Somehow,
the contact person forgot the change. They called later and asked about us
since she along with us did not make the meal. They invited us to the
Christmas meal and all was fine.

What has your chapter learned about it's self, each other, the people in the
community from doing these projects over the past four years?
