Hi Darian!
I am not a member of NFB, but would like to join and be an active contributor.  I have read a lot of the e-mails flying back and forth and have not seen(Bad choice of words) any mention of anyone trying to engage the blind or low-vision senior population.  We have years of experience, tons of ideas that could help our age group and make things better for the generations behind us that do not need to go through some of the experiences we have.  This does not have to happen, but we seem to be a group no one pays much attention to.  Why?  We have been there and done that!  Why can't our experiences and experience in the workplace be a guiding light for those of you to follow?  I hope someone starts to pay attention and realize how helpful we can still be.  Respectfully,  Tom Peralta/Secretary-Treasurer of the Wisconsin Blind Veterans Association  and member of the Wisconsin Council for the Blind.

Hello Listers,

I  Recognize there are individuals who may really want to go to convention, but unfortunately will not be able to.
Of those folks, I know there are quite a few of you who really want to contribute to the work of  ensuring that the blind have a place in  improving our  community and country, while showing the desire, talent and capacity  that the blind have  through service.
you want to engage blind   individualss  federationests, chapters, and affiliates in  meaningful and demonstrative service that leads to  the proper recognition of us  as citizens with first class status.
If you have ideas of ways to do this today and up until and through convention, please be  in touch with me.
Post-convention, we hope to initiate projects  that engage the Federation on a  grass-roots level, but have made the important decision to focus the energies we have on establishing our presence at National convention, where we can start to plant the seeds, make the connections and  raise the  capital we need to support and modle the efforts we dream up.
Once out of convention we  will put fourth strong  efforts to   innovative ideas.  In order for these ideas to take off, we need  to engage the creators of these ideas  and see that they take their ideas from what should be done to  what we have done.

We have already found individuals  with great ideas on this list and those with important views on how things ought to be done. I look forward to working closely with those folks, as they  have a  clear  desire to build and to  inspire.
Again, Please be in touch with your ideas and enthusiasm.
  Best,
  Darian
