Dear Community Service listers,

The Community Service Division is a new and proud division of the National Federation of the Blind.
As you know, because you have probably been on this list for some time, the mission of the Community Service Division is to secure equality of opportunity for the blind through community service and advocacy.
We believe that by serving amongst and along side our sighted peers we can model positive blindness philosophy and shatter misconceptions.
we believe that by giving back and getting involved, we can show how the blind can liv the life we want. We can show what we’ve always believed; that blindness is not, has not and will not be the characteristic that defines us or our future, that through volunteering our time and serving in the communities in which we live, we slowly but surely raise expectations of blindness.

The Division has established four separate and unique committees, filled by Passionate, dedicated and driven leaders. Each committee has a few possible projects an individual may serve on. We encourage you to take a look at the committee and the projects associated with each and consider joining the committee (s)/project(s you want to .
Committee:outreach and partnerships(you want to spread the word about this newly formed division, what we plan to do, how we will benefit the movement, and challenge Fellow Federationests to live the lives they want through service). Co-Chairpersons: Charlotte Czarnecki and Sarah Leon. projects: service challenge, service agency partnerships, campus service and engagement program partnerships, Training center partnerships.

Committee:Publications (you want to arm those who might want to serve but not know how to with the ideas, skills and tools to do it). Co-chairs Michelle Mitchell and Hindley Williams Projects: how-tis for (state convention projects, individual involvement, parent and family involvement, chapter involvement),.

Committee: Social networking and Media ( you believe that cyber image is everything. You think that what we do is so awesome that it needs to be up so the whole world [wide web] can see). Chairperson: Chris Parsons. Projects: facebook, twitter, Etc. blog, website and newsletter.

Committee:fundraising (maybe you like raising money, maybe you are super creative and don’t mind learning how to turn that into raising the money, maybe you want to be on a team that is having so much fun that you forgot you are fundraising). chairperson: Corina Salinas . Projects” trivia night, serve-a-thin. and more.
Do you want to get involved? is there a committee you are itching to take a leadership role in or flash your massive talent in skill.

Shoot me an e-mail via the below information,
  Thanks,
  Darian

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can have the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.

“”...The challenges we face will not be solved with one meeting in one night. Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time.

We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek...” -Barack Obama
Your unwanted vehicle can be just what the blind need to make possibilities reality.
