The purpose of this list is to promote jointly the positive philosophy of the national federation of the blind, and the positive effects that community 
service/service learning has on self and country from the blind person's prospective. This List will also be utilized as a platform for the promotion 
and encouragement of community service/service learning in order to promote the philosophy of the National Federation of the Blind at the local, sate and national levels of the organization.. 

Discussion topics can include how to find a service opportunity,  personal experiences on service projects, alternative techniques for effectively performing tasks on the project  site, and 
strategies for appropriately educating supervisors, volunteers, and members of the volunteer community    to the abilities of the blind in the service setting. Postings 
of service opportunities from organizations (e.g. AmeriCorps, PeaceCorps, habitat for humanity, the united way, etc) and other opportunities that would 
be beneficial to individuals looking to get involved in community service are welcome. 
Accounts of service projects taken on by chapters, divisions, 
and affiliates are also welcome, as they function as positive examples of the national federation of the blind in the community service arena.
  Announcements concerning the activities of the National Federation of the Blind Community Service Division, including communications from the board of directors, committee  meetings and topical conference calls will be disseminated.
