I think that is an amazing idea.

We once did a Braille outreach/fundraiser event with my chapter.
We had a Braille-a-thon. Members sought out pledges, and we held the actual event at a coffee shop. We had a table set up with our sign and had literature available. Members who participated sat in an open area reading Braille books. We even had the local news show up to do a story on the event. It turned out to be a pretty successful event. We got a lot of info out there about Braille and demonstrated how "normal" we are, grin.

I used to have a braille production business. I produce my church bulletin in braille, though no one uses it except for me. It would be available though if other braille readers came to the service. My husband does his church's bulletins, too, and there is one other person who takes advantage of it. When I was an intern at that church, I produced five bulletins each Sunday.
We participate in the Braille Challenge each year, not so much as a chapter, but those of us who can and are interested do.

Hello all,
As today is Louis Brielle's birthday, and we in the national Federation of the blind believe so strongly in the profound impact on braille on the lives of blind people, I wanted to know how you use braille in giving back to your community?
Understand that it might sound odd, I mean… Using braille to give back to the community?
Well… We use braille in many different parts of our life, seems reasonable that we would probably use it to give back?
So, how do you, your friends, your chapter members, your division, your family, use braille to help you raise the expectations of blind people by serving in your community and living the life you want?
Thanks,
Darian
