As the month of October comes to a spectacular close, I was very fortunate to be able to participate in two amazing meet the blind month events. The first
of which was at the fabulous Memorial High School in Beaumonte Texas. We informed the students and staff on various blind-related topics such as independent
living, white cane traveling and specific eye conditions. Everyone was then given the challenge to take the I am Challenge by reflecting on their life
challenges by defining who they are and who they want to be in spite of these challenges. Secondly, the Blind Date with the Community was an opportunity
to interact with residents and business leaders in the community while providing insight on what it truely means to be blind. It was truely amazing to
feel all of the love and support from the community while making a lasting impact and connections with the beautiful people of Beaumont Texas.
