 Yes, I would say that this would count.
 It does sound like the larger question is how to phrase  your experiences when putting them in your resume.
 I am glad you asked this question because our volunteer experiences are valuable, but the question becomes once we get to the point where we have gained the experience and knowledge how do we want to articulate  it in such a way that makes us valuable and desirable in opportunities  we want to go after?
