   1. Find mentoring or tutoring opportunities through area nonprofits,
   schools, places of worship, and other organizations.


   1. Lend a hand at a local homeless shelter, soup kitchen, or food
   pantry; donate nonperishable food and/or related items (ask what they need
   most).


   1. Organize a letter-writing campaign to local and state politicians
   about a cause you care about.
