We’re gonna saddle up and celebrate our 8th day! Say Howdy to our next
Willing Worker, Yolanda Harris from Pilot Point, Texas

I want you to picture it. A small town called Pilot Point. It’s off a
beaten path down in the southern living of Texas. You’re not going to find
the Cheer’s bar there, but it’s definitely a place where everybody knows
your name. Especially the name of Yolanda Harris! Let me tell you, this
beautiful lady is a woman after our own hearts! Her whole family believes
in lending a helping hand. If you had ever met her Mom, you’d know that she
has never met a stranger! That giving-heart has trickled all the way down
the family line to Miss Yolanda. She has been and continues to be, the
voice for the elderly in her community. Before she lost her sight, she took
people to their doctor’s appointments, ran errands for them, and assisted
in any way that she could. Once useable vision was no longer an option for
her, she kept reaching out to those in need and found other ways to be of
help. Then, the world threw in a pandemic in 2019, that’s okay, she wasn’t
going to let a virus stop her from serving the elderly in her neighborhood.
She picked up the phone and discovered a safe way of giving back to her
little town.

The Lonestar NFB chapter already knows the unique spark Miss Yolanda brings
to the table, as their Vice President. Now, our division gets to work
alongside Miss Yolanda as one of our newest members!

So, the next time a person tries to tell you that they don’t believe they
can make much of a difference? I advise you to tell them to try and sleep
with a tiny mosquito! Like Miss Yolanda, you can be the difference in
someone’s life!
