Welcome to Blind Equality Achievement Month!

On the 17th day, our next Willing Worker would like for you to start your
day having a nice bowl of butter pecan chocolate chip Carmel swirl ice
cream! Meet, Adrienne Deanna McGowan-Nelson from Georgia!

Miss Nelson was born in 1963 to the awesome parents of Johnny and Rosa
McGowan. She has two sisters and a brother and is truly grateful, blessed,
and very appreciative for the way her parents raised them within the
foundation of the Lord.

She had been married, then divorced. On God’s time, He blessed her with the
lover of her soul, Larry Nelson who she had been married to for ten
wonderful years. Sadly, her dear husband went home to be with the Lord on
September 6,2018. The Lord has also blessed Miss Nelson with two priceless
gifts of two very handsome Princes who continuingly give her such
tremendous joy. Her daughter-in-love is a wonderful addition to their
family and she absolutely loves being a Grandma to two of the most handsome
grandsons. They bring her such joy and are very dear to her heart. She is
extremely grateful because raising her two sons kept her rooted, grounded,
focused, and through prayer, relied on God’s help in raising them. “Y’all I
am five feet tall and both my sons are taller than me!”

A few of her hobbies and interests are traveling to new and exciting
places, boarding majestic cruises, and reading captivating books. She is
also a writer! She has been working on some pieces and has set a personal
goal of one day completing her works of art! Miss Nelson is also
entertained by watching wrestling, bull riding, rodeos, western, and more.
“Yeehaw, giddy up and let’s head’em up and move’m out!”

She has worked in several different fields and her resume reflects diverse
experiences like running a daycare from her townhouse, telemarketing as a
caller and a Supervisor, and being self employed as a direct sales
consultant. She is a graduate from ACT Travel School, Penn Foster for Early
Childhood Development and completed courses in Life Coaching and in Stress.
In 2018, Miss Nelson graduated from Ashworth College having studied Wedding
Planning and now studying Interior Decorating.

The Lord has blessed Miss Nelson with a heart of service. She serves as a
Certified Peer Support Group Leader, and at her church, She is a License
Minister, co-host for the Saturday morning prayer line, and the caller of
New Members Services. They welcome first time visitors and schedule new
members for orientation class at Vision for Souls Family Cathedral. She and
her sons and her baby girl, are working diligently to build a family legacy!

As you are finishing up with your ice cream delight, she also wants to
share that she had been diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). She
wholeheartedly believes that the RP is a condition, it is NOT … who she is.
Thanks to the National Federation of the Blind, her local chapter (Cobb
County Empowerment), and the Willing Workers group, her life is increasing
for greatness!!!!
“Ain’t No Stopping Us Now, We Are Moving!”
