The Heart of a Writer

I write my way out of hard times. I write my way while having good times. I write. I write to release pain, not intending to gain fame or likes. I write to express what I suppress. I write what I hide, so you must read between the lines. I write with no limitations, excuses, or lies. I write what I see beyond the eyes. I write with the love of the spoken words. I write with freedom of creativity, not searching for the right verbs. My words are action—directly aligned with my vision.

It’s my season to write! I am on a mission of healing others and being healed through sharing my test! Mic check this out! I’m a ghostwriter undercover, behind the scenes; no need to be seen. I write how I walk independently! I write without paper or pen. I write with my soul, blood, sweat, and tears. As I recite, I get chills. I write with fire because I’m a survivor. I write. Alright, I’m guilty of that crime. Sentence me to life. You cannot lock me down. My spoken words travel from cell to cell. Tried to defeat me but failed! You have no power. I am the child of The Most High. He has blessed me with the gift of writing. As long as I have breath, I shall write. Writing is my life support. Can you feel it? My heart beats with the rhythm of the ink. Can you hear it? That’s the sound of a writer’s heart. Come a little closer. Read the closed caption. You too have the “Write 2 Heal.” 

 

As a spoken word artist, OUTTA SIGHT volunteers by way of utilizing her gift of poetry as a tool of healing and advocacy. The freedom of expression, boldness, vulnerability and confidence set her aside from other poets. Unapologetically, the material written is a reflection of her unique personality, life’s experiences, social injustice, disability and social awareness, complimented by God given creativity.
