Reflections on     service this week from Pat 🦋

I started out the week with my first Committee meeting for our ”Supplies 4 Scholars” (S4S) NFB Ohio Greater  Akron Chapter community service project. this is a project that I am very  passionate about.  we supply blind students in the area with a backpack, basic school supplies and Visually Impaired supplies that fits their  specific needs. The kids absolutely love smelly supplies like scented markers, scented colored pencils  scented crayons.

It takes several months to get it together, but it is worth it! We show the kids lots of love and they return the love  with excitement and gratitude! Last year one little boy asked if he could make a speech. “I just want you all to know that this isn’t just about the backpacks.Thanks for the great backpack and my fave paper, pencils and everything.  I don’t know if you know that i met Miss Pat when I was 4 and I love her and all of you are like family. Thanks”. 🥹
Our project will go out with a bang 🧨    by holding an event. This year our theme is “Celebrate the Seasons”. We will celebrate at a park with a summer picnic with hot dogs, chips,  juice boxes, and s’more’s (Graham crackers, Hershey bar and roasted marshmallow ). of course,  there will be themed  games and prizes,oh yes backpacks.

I always make encouragement phone calls or visits to those in hospital, rehab or home and those that are down, new to vision loss or struggle with technology.
