Dear Maggie,
Your passionate heart is very evident, and I do believe you are creating a legacy of service already with your little one. Keep showing people how it is done!
With much respect and love… Carol King-Ries

The 2nd Annual Southeastern Ohio Center for Independent Living, Cornhole Tournament will be held on Saturday, May 13th and I can't wait!
It's an opportunity for consumers, their families, and local community members to come out and show their support for the S.O.C.I.L. Adaptive Sports Program with several fun cornhole games and tournaments, lots of exciting prizes, a delicious grilled lunch, many unique door prizes, and so much more.
To put together a magnificent event like this one, it takes an incredible amount of teamwork, a good deal of community sponsorships, and many committed volunteers.
Sometimes, when a person is living with a disability, the general public or even the people we know, will treat us as though they know our abilities better than we do, and will try to place limitations on our capabilities!
If you don't know, allow me to give you the know!
I am totally blind, partially deaf, and presently six months pregnant. And I was most certainly not going to be overlooked as one of the, let's roll up our sleeves and get to work, volunteers.
I signed up to serve last year, and was determined to work in the kitchen again this year.
My responsibility started this evening with the task of individually wrapping a few hundred hot dog and hamburger buns in aluminum foil.
Not a problem! Turned up my jams, set up my work station, baby boy was dancing around in the womb, and I started to wrap away!
The Community Service Division believes in you! And we believe service is where the heart is!
Roll up those sleeves, and serve, TODAY!!!
(The picture shows three containers of two hundred individually wrapped hot dogs and hamburger buns.)
