<p style="font-family: 'Palatino Linotype',Palatino,Garamond,serif; font-size: 12px; margin: 0.5em 0pt;">Youth Service America would like to recognize seven year old Dylan Phillips of Milford, Delaware as one of our Everyday Young Heroes for his work to educate his community about animal welfare issues and his efforts to find homes for stray animals. </p>
<p style="font-family: 'Palatino Linotype',Palatino,Garamond,serif; font-size: 12px; margin: 0.5em 0pt;">Dylan co-founded Remembering Rusty to address issues of animal welfare after he took a trip to the local SPCA and wanted to take all the homeless dogs home with him. The organization promotes advocacy and animal welfare issues, and works to find homes for homeless dogs and cats. Dylan engages in a variety of projects through Remembering Rusty. He helps to bake and package dog biscuits which are donated to animal shelters and sold to raise funds for the organization. He also works to gather donations and supplies and distribute them to local shelters and rescue groups. In addition to fundraising work and his efforts to find homes for stray cats and dogs, Dylan's favorite part of his project is to go into local classrooms and read books recommended by the ASPCA and participate in a discussion about advocacy and animal rights.</p>
<p style="font-family: 'Palatino Linotype',Palatino,Garamond,serif; font-size: 12px; margin: 0.5em 0pt;">Dylan faces challenges every time he goes into a shelter - he feels bad for the dogs and wants to rescue them all personally. Yet he remains committed to helping as many animals as possible. Dylan has engaged all of his family to help him with his project and he has also solicited donations and contributions from family, friends, and strangers. The most notable recruitment was from Dolce Bakery. Dylan presented Remembering Rusty to them and they agreed to carry and help market the dog biscuits. He now visits the bakery weekly to deliver new cookies and pick up extra bags of cookies to take the SPCA.</p>
<p style="font-family: 'Palatino Linotype',Palatino,Garamond,serif; font-size: 12px; margin: 0.5em 0pt;">Dylan has raised over $200 and completed several classroom presentations to educate the community about advocacy and animal welfare issues. For his efforts to promote animal rights and address the issue of animal welfare, we honor Dylan as an Everyday Young Hero.</p>
