I know the women of the moose in my community I grew up in have a neat program. It’s been going on for 50 years! I don’t know where they get the family names, but it’s called the Christmas stocking project. The deal Is you get a name or a family of kids with information like age sex etc. and what they would like. Then you go purchase these things and wrap them. I think there’s a big Christmas party at rear where the kids receive the presents. They go baby through high school which I think is kind of cool. Similar to the Christmas stocking project, we’ve always had a Christmas tree in the narthex where names were on tags with information about a child. You took one off and bought for that child wrapped and brought it back to the church. Even on a limited income if you pick youngster you’re liable to pick out something good that they need but you can afford.

If you connect with an organization that would be something really cool for a teacher the blind to do with her kids. Think about all the skills they’ll be practicing not to mention travel!

Two things my churches I’ve been in have done are also fun. Every year or Sunday school kids filled shoeboxes with things. Some years we had 300 boxes! The kids fill them, wrap them and I think in some cases their families purchased the items that fill the boxes as well.

Ericka Short

1750 Fordem Ave. #508

Madison WI 53704

H: 608-665-3170

C: 262-434-0817

from my iPhone 6+

On Oct 4, 2018, at 8:39 AM, Tekesha Saffold via Community-Service <community-service@nfbnet.org> wrote:

Greetings!
