<DIV class=MsoNormal style="font-size:12pt;"><B>Greater Springfield</B> – Kristina Constant first learned that she would become blind when she was 9 years old. Throughout the subsequent ten years, with the help of a Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired, she gained the skills she would need for literacy and independence. Now a graduate student at Columbia Teachers College, she is studying to become a Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired herself. <o:p></o:p></DIV>
<DIV class=MsoNormal style="font-size:12pt;"><o:p> </o:p></DIV>
<DIV class=MsoNormal style="font-size:12pt;">Kristina is working with members of the National Federation of the Blind of Greater Springfield to host a day camp for children ages 4-12 who are blind or at-risk for blindness. The camp will take place July 16-27, 9:30 am to 3:30 pm at National Federation of the Blind of Greater Springfield Chapter House, 910 Liberty St. Springfield, MA 01101. Activities will include non-visual skills of blindness, Braille reading, writing, orientation, and mobility, games, field trips and fun! The cost is $20 per child for the two week program. <o:p></o:p></DIV>

<DIV class=MsoNormal style="font-size:12pt;">Currently there is a 10% literacy rate among blind children in this country. The camp is part of the National Federation of the Blind of Massachusetts Braille Enrichment for Literacy and Learning (BELL), program to boost non-visual skills and Braille literacy for blind children. <o:p></o:p></DIV>
